Treasure Coast, Florida, Forecast for 4/30/14

Good morning Treasure Coast! Currently a flood emergency is in effect for 26 Florida counties this morning. Heavy rain persists throughout the Panhandle region and another day of heavy rain is forecast. Many are trapped in their homes and are being rescued by boat or canoe. In addition, strong storms are possible in Northeast Florida, including Jacksonville, with gusty to damaging winds and some hail.

For the Treasure Coast, it looks like the potential for some severe storms this afternoon mainly along the sea breeze boundary. We should start to see this activity around mid afternoon today. The storms today will be capable of producing strong winds, torrential downpours, lightning, flooding and even a potential for a weak tornado. Storm movement will be from SE to NE today.

Today will be another warm one with mid to upper 80’s along the immediate coast with low 90’s possible inland. Gusty winds in the 15 to 20 mph range are also possible today.

By Friday and Saturday, the rain chances will increase as the frontal system parks right over East Central Florida.
