Sub-Tropical Storm fay…Tropics Heating Up.

***Tropical Outlook***

Good evening all. The tropics are beginning to heat up on this mid October evening. We are now tracking Fay, Invest 90 and Invest 91. None of these storms pose a direct threat to the US. Invest 90 will be watched just in case it brushes close enough to create some rough surf along the beaches.

Remember back in 2008 when Tropical storm Fay strengthened over lake Okeechobee and created catastrophic amounts of rain along the Treasure Coast. Many were caught off guard and some kids were stranded at their schools. Water rescues also were the norm on that day. Vehicles were abandoned at many key intersections throughout the county as the rain relentlessly flooded streets and neighborhoods. Since the system was only a tropical storm, it did not count as a direct by a hurricane.

For the Treasure Coast local forecast, look for dry weather till Tuesday when the rain chances spike to 50%. Expect highs in the mid to upper 80’s and lows in the 70’s. Later in the week, the temperatures will cool to 81 during the day for the high and 69 in the evening. Although there are no immediate tropical threats, we will be watching the models for any signs of tropical development that could affect our region.
