Strong Cold Front To Move Through Florida

Good Monday morning Treasure Coast!! Although we are not in a tornado watch area, a line of rain and storms will likely move across our region ahead of a strong cold front. Tornado watches are in place for parts of the Florida Panhandle at this hour.

Today, a strong cold front will approach East Central Florida and will move through the area by late tonight. We could see some lightning storms develop ahead of this frontal system along with heavy rain and wind gusts to 50 MPH.

Behind the front, strong gusty winds will produce very hazardous boating conditions. Although freezing temperatures are not expected along the Treasure Coast, some interior areas of Brevard and Osceola counties could see wind chills as low as 30 – 35 degrees. Some parts of North Florida will require freeze warnings and watches, however.

The first part of the rain and storms will arrive at the I-4 corridor about sunset tonight. The rest of the region will see the storms push through during the late evening and overnight hours. A few strong storms could also form this afternoon near Okeechobee, Martin and St. Lucie counties. The line of storms is expected to loose some intensity before it reaches our area but some strong storms are still possible.
