Good morning Treasure Coast!! It is a chilly morning across the region. The low at our weather station was 39 at 7:31 this morning. The official forecast and the models indicated that so the forecast was right on target. Today, it will struggle just to get past the 55 degree mark.
Tonight, freeze warnings are in effect for the entire area. I just ran the model and all of the inland areas all the way to the west coast will be below freezing. Along the coastal areas of the Treasure Coast I am seeing about 33 as the low. The official forecast calls for 31. Tonight, the temperature will vary depending on where you live. More wooded areas will be colder then areas that are around lots of buildings and pavement. Factors such as these can mean the difference between a reading of 33 and a reading of 31. Areas around Lake Okeechobee will see temps around 28 degrees!!
Tonight is the night to protect your plants. Bring delicate plants indoors and cover those that are sensitive to cold with cloth, not plastic.
