Cold Front Approaching Florida

Good morning Treasure Coast!! As a good part of the East Coast wakes up to snow and ice, 70 degree temperatures are the rule for most of Florida this morning.

A low pressure area located over SE South Carolina is moving NE into the Atlantic. The trailing cold front is now located in North Florida. The front is accompanied by rain and a few thunderstorms. This rain shield will reach our area later this afternoon into tonight.

Temperatures will still remain warn through tonight with lows around 55. Tomorrow will be another story. The coldest air of the season will arrive.

Low temperatures will be in the upper 30’s on Wednesday night and low to mid 30’s on Thursday night. You might want to think about protecting your tender plants both of those nights as temperatures could be colder in normally colder locations. Freezing temperatures are possible along parts of the Space Coast on Wednesday.

Cannot rule out a light freeze as far south as Lake Okeechobee along with some inland Treasure Coast areas.

Stay tuned in case any freeze watches or warnings are issued.

The following video is the HRRR short term model showing the front along with the rain as it approaches the region. The model runs through Mid Night and it looks like the timing might be a bit slow on the model.
