Cold Front Approaching Central Florida

Hi everybody, an advancing cold front is currently passing through Central Florida. The front is now passing through Port St Lucie at this hour. Showers and cooler temperatures will be the rule the next couple of days. Today will harbor a 40% chance of showers and the rest of the week will be mostly dry. The high temperatures will be near 70 and the nightly lows will be in the upper 40’s.

There are freeze watches for the north and northwest parts of the state.

Bitter Cold Temperatures In The North East

Hi everybody. Bitter cold temperatures are the rule for many parts of the country. A low of -27 degrees was recorded at the Mt. Washington Observatory in New Hampshire. Single digits and even temps in the minus zero area are the rule for many of your northern cities.

Right now, Florida has the best weather in the nation with clear skies and mild temperatures.

Another Nor’Easter May Be In Store for North East

Another large Nor’Easter may be headed to the  Sandy  impacted regions next week. This is not something the folks in the north east want to hear but it could be reality. The same model that  accurately  predicted both Sandy and the last nor’easter is predicting yet another  extremely  strong storm for the same region. The  scenario  and the weather patterns are uncannily similar except for the hurricane part, of course. This system will not be tropical in nature but it could pound a knock out punch to the already storm tired North East.

Winter Storm Athena Heading Towards The North East Coast

Winter Storm Athena, the first of the “named” winter storms is heading towards the north east states.  Many of the areas that were expected to get rain will bee getting snow instead as this system approaches. I think one of the  most feared things that we are watching for is water rise at the coast. This is the single one thing that is not needed. As Athena approaches, we will see snow but rain will be possible along the immediate coast. Light freezing rain will also be possible all of which could cause more potential power outages as the storm moves up the coast.

Strong Coastal Storm Heading Towards The Northeast

There is going to a strong coastal storm hitting the northeast the middle of this coming week. Strong winds, rain and coastal flooding will again be possible. Even with all the damage from the previous system, folks will again need to prepare for yet another one. Power outages will again be a  possibility  as the system moves north. Make no mistake, this will be nothing  like  the one that just hit but it will potentially create severe problems for an already  weakened   infrastructure.

The confidence level of this forecast is now moderate as the models are getting better and better in agreement.

Severe Northeast Winter Predicted

With the A/C still humming it is hard to imagine that there is likely to be a severe northeast winter this year. Last year with the exception of the record-breaking snowstorm near Halloween, there was very little snow the remainder of the year. That will not be the case this year. Severe storms are forecast up and down the East Coast with some of the bad weather heading down as far south as the Gulf Coast.
