Tropical Storm Erika Could Pose A Florida Threat

***Tropical Storm Erika Could Pose A Significant Threat For Florida Or Another SE Coast Location*****

Erika is still a tropical storm but global models and the official track are telling the story. For the first time in many years (and an El Nino year I might add) Florida could be under the gun.forecast

The primary steering current is being provided by the subtropical ridge to the north of Erika. This is keeping her on a primarily westward motion.

Although confidence in the 5 day track is low, those in Florida and the islands need to Watch Erika Closely. This includes the Carolinas.

The models have 3 main potentials at this hour (this can change and it will). The GFS shows a weak system over Florida moving into the Gulf and then hitting around Tampa. The Euro shows a strong hurricane off the coast of Melbourne on Tuesday. The CMC has Erika just skirting the coast of Cuba moving into the Gulf and hitting the West Coast of Florida near Tampa as a major hurricane. Again, these are not forecasts and these models can and will change but it is best to know hour by hour what the model1models are saying. What is concerning is that almost all of the models are suggesting a hit on The SE Coast, especially Florida.

PLEASE, if you do not have a hurricane plan and you thought you did not need one this is the time to rethink that thought.
