Today marks the beginning of the peak 2014 hurricane season. We have not seen a direct hit in our region since 2005 when Wilma ravaged the area. I see more and more that folks are not taking hurricane season as seriously because of the long stretch without a storm. In 1992, Hurricane Andrew hit the South Florida area causing major devastation that was like nothing we have ever seen.
Even with the quiet season so far, you need to be ready. It might be in invest that is off the coast of Africa right now or it might not happen for another 5 years, but some day another devastating storm will come through the region. You must be ready each and every year as soon as the hurricane season starts. Waiting till the last minute to get supplies is what causes chaos and a shortage of supplies. Be ready now, not when a storm threatens.
