Heavy Rain Event For New England Wednesday

***Heavy Rain Event For New England On Wednesday***

Good morning everybody. The Flood Watches for New England have now been extended to include the greater Boston area. A strong low pressure area will move through the region late Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain will overspread the Springfield area on Wednesday morning just in time for the morning commute. Because of the slow movement of the system, rain may not reach Eastern Massachusetts until the afternoon. The rain will likely affect the homecoming commute in Eastern Mass.

This is a widespread event that will affect not only New England but also New Jersey and New York City. In fact, the greatest risk for severe weather lies near the NYC area.

After the rain, cooler air will overspread the region for Thursday.

The graphics below show the Real Time Radar for the Northeast where you can see the line of rain approaching the region from the West. The second graphic is the NAM radar model for 8 AM on Wednesday morning.
