New York/ Massachusetts Rain Event Wednesday Update

**New England/New York Rain**
Good morning everybody. The water vapor image looks like something out of October instead of summer. Lots of moisture is streaming in from the Atlantic and impressive amounts of rain are the result. There already has been 8-12 inches in Baltimore and over 5 inches in parts of NJ last night.

The intense rain band has already dropped over 10 inches in parts of western Long Island, as seen on the rainfall graphic. The rain will be slow to move east and with the tropical nature of the system, heavy rain will continue. Urban flooding will be the main threat.

Heavy Rain Event For New England Wednesday

***Heavy Rain Event For New England On Wednesday***

Good morning everybody. The Flood Watches for New England have now been extended to include the greater Boston area. A strong low pressure area will move through the region late Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain will overspread the Springfield area on Wednesday morning just in time for the morning commute. Because of the slow movement of the system, rain may not reach Eastern Massachusetts until the afternoon. The rain will likely affect the homecoming commute in Eastern Mass.

Flood Watches for New England/New York/New Jersey on Wednesday

**Flood Watches for New England**
Good evening New England! Heavy rain will spread through the entire region late Tuesday through Wednesday. The rain chances are at 100% on Wednesday. The same goes for the New York/New Jersey area.

Flash flooding from the heavy rain will be possible. The NAM radar model I just ran shows the heavy precipitation moving through the entire region. This will be a widespread rain event.

There is also a probability of severe weather on Wednesday as well. The primary threat would be from high wind gusts but there is also a small probability of a brief tornado.

**Tropical Depression 2 Has Formed in The Atlantic

***Advisories Being Issued For Depression 2****

As of 5 PM, The first advisory of Depression 2 has been released. Currently, the system is extremely shallow and does not have a lot of convection but conditions appear to support a closed circulation. Given the dry air and moderate SST temperatures, not much in the way of strengthening is forecast. The GFS showed max wind gusts near 55 MPH before again weakening.

April 2014 Was Wetter and Warmer Then Normal in East Central Florida

The weather in East Central Florida was wetter and warmer then normal along the Treasure Coast during the month of April. Although there were a few cold fronts that passed through the region, they ushered in only very brief periods of cooler weather. Although the fronts were not frequent, they pulled in some periods of heavy rainfall that made it seem more like a summertime weather pattern then an April weather pattern.

Potential For Strong Storms Tomorrow Along the Treasure Coast in Florida

Good morning Treasure Coast!! Looks like the weather will become increasingly unsettled over the next couple of days.

The cold front will linger across our region for most of the day today. The boundary will slowly move back to the north this evening and through the overnight hours. This will increase the precipitable water values through the day which may trigger some scattered showers today. There could be a rumble of thunder.

Watch Out Treasure Coast, Florida on Thursday.. Potential Severe Weather
