Florida Severe Storm Season Right Around The Corner

Good afternoon everybody! As we approach the Spring and Summer severe weather season here in Florida, we want to remind everybody to have a plan in case disaster should strike. Severe thunderstorms, tornadoes and hurricanes are all possible scenarios. Even though our tornadoes are generally weak and small compared to those in the Midwest, they can strike with little or no warning and can still cause a great deal of damage.
The best way to prevent disaster is to be informed. Every household should own a NOAA weather radio ands have it activated and on standby at all times. In addition, resources such as our website on Facebook can also be a valuable tool.

During storm season, it is important to have your Facebook feed set to receive MOST RECENT stories instead of TOP Stories. (Our Facebook Link https://www.facebook.com/hometownweather ) If your feed is set to TOP stories you might see a posted tornado warning the next day instead of when it actually is posted. To change this setting, go to the upper left side of your news feed where you see News Feed listed. You will see a small arrow next to the text. Click this arrow and you will see the options to switch from TOP STORIES to MOST RECENT. When this option is used, your stories will appear as they are posted. For unknown reasons, Facebook will automatically switch you back to Top Stories on occasion and you will have to change the setting again.
Most warnings are posted here as they happen and in some cases faster then you will get them on your phone. Together, let us all have a safe storm season.
