Blizzard Watches Expanded

***Blizzard Watches have been expanded to include Springfield and Southern New Hampshire. 18 to 24 inches are possible with over 2 feet in many locations. The low pressure area is going to “Bomb” Friday night late with very heavy snow accumulations in a very short period of time. The quicker the storm develops and forms, the more snow the region will see as less warm air will enter the atmosphere. In addition, Thunder Snow is a real possibility as well. Any travel will become imposable once the storm starts so be where you need to be before the start of the storm. ****

Historic Blizzard Possible for New England

Guys, it looks like 2 systems are going to collide which could mean a MAJOR blizzard for New England. Unlike the first models, the new models are showing this to be an inland event. If you live in this region, prepare accordingly. This could be a life threatening event for the unprepared.

This storm is expected to be of Historical proportions and 2 feet of snow are not out of the question. The worst of the storm will be Friday night into Saturday. Prepare for potential power outages and impassable roads during this period. Winds could gust up to 45 MPH so a wind event is also anticipated.

Potential Huge Storm for New England This Weekend

Hi everybody, the potential for a huge Winter Storm exists for the New England area this weekend. The European model actually shows as much as 24 inches in some locations.

Confidence continues to increase in the potential for a huge event starting on Friday. Since the storm is still 72 hours away  there  are still some things that have to be worked out before the final forecast is issued. The confidence in at least a foot of snow is quite high by forecasters at this time. The main thing that will have to be  monitored  is if the snow mixes with any rain near the coast and also how far inland the snow will occur. There is also a good chance that a high wind event will take place. this may create the need for coastal flood  watches  or warnings. Strong winds and flooding along the coast are a definite  possibility.

Snow Chances Decreasing for East Coast

Hi everybody. The models are now more confident in building the storm that was supposed to hit the East Coast well offshore. This will lessen the chances of a major snow event. A Wintry mix is still possible along parts of the East Coast and travel could still be impacted so stay tuned to your local media for updates in your area.

In Florida, the nice weather will continue with pleasant temperatures during the day and cool temperatures at night.

Models are “Backing Off” of Major Winter Storm

Hi everybody. There might be some good news for the folks along the east coast US. Todays model guidance is backing off on the idea of a major Winter Storm. Snow will still be there but the system is not expected to gain steam until it is already off-shore. This will result in the storm forming too far offshore to affect New England. This is  definitely  a matter of timing and we are still watching to see what happens.

The Wintry mix could spread as far south as the Carolinas.

Vigorous Winter Storm Expected for East Coast

Hi everybody. If the bitter cold temperatures are not enough for you we have another ingredient to add to the mix. A vigorous snow storm could affect the east coast including Massachusetts. Two storm systems are going to meet near the East coast US and then move towards New England as a Winter Storm.

The timing for the system to hit the North East appears to be a late Friday to Early Saturday event. Since we are 3 days out these time frames could change. Because of the cold temperatures, all snow is forecast. There should be no periods of rain.

Frigid Temperatures Hitting the Northern Tier of US

Hi everybody, as mentioned in the previous blog post the weather has turned brutally cold in many parts of the country. Some areas in Massachusetts are going down to the single digits and even in the negative numbers this week. in fact areas as far south as Charleston South Carolina are going to feel the cold with temperatures as low as 25 degrees in these areas. For the Sunshine State, we are still looking at nice temperatures but a bit cooler then last week.

Brutal Cold May Be Coming in January

Brutal cold temperatures may be in store for parts of the country as we approach the middle of January. Up till now, most of the country has been  experiencing  warmer then normal temperatures so far this Winter. It looks like that is about to change.

Up till now, the cold air has been staying to the north of most of the US and has not been plunging  southward. The extreme cold air at the North Pole is beginning to travel farther towards the lower layers of the atmosphere and this will begin to allow the coldest air to start plunging south.
