NOAA Reports A Normal to Below Normal Hurricane Season 2014

As we prepare for the Memorial Day Weekend another hurricane season is just on the horizon. The 2014 hurricane season is just about ready to start and already we are seeing action in the Pacific. The fact that all the major agencies, including NOAA, are projecting a lower then normal season should not make you feel all that comfortable.

Hurricane Season 2014 Is Just Around The Corner

I know its only March but Hurricane Season 2014 will be here before you know it. The initial prediction was indicating an El Nino situation which typically reduces the number of storms. It is important to remember that it only takes one storm to make it a bad year. In fact the year that Andrew hit we were in an El Nino scenario.

It is best to be ready no matter what the forecast calls for.

Hurricane Season 2014 Initial Projections

It is only February but us weather folk are already looking at the 2014 hurricane season. As of today, we have not seen a major hurricane hit in Florida since hurricane Wilma in 2005. That is a long stretch and is actually somewhat unusual. The big question is what are the predictions for this year? Well, 2014 may not be an active season since our friend, El Nino, may take shape by the peak of the tropical cyclone season.
