Super Storm Sandy Slammed The North East One Year Ago Today

One year ago today, Super Storm Sandy devastated the East Coast of New Jersey and severely flooded the New York City area. Today, there are no tropical systems being monitored in the Caribbean but the clean up and rebuilding still continue in many parts of the North east.

The tropics remain quiet however there will be one more opportunity for some tropical development in about a week when the Madden Julian Oscillation flares up. If there is any tropical activity, it will be in the Caribbean. Remember, hurricane season goes until the end of November. If we get past this period with no activity, chances are we will not see anything form till next June. We will watch carefully if any of the models show anything spinning up.

Halloween in Florida looks to be quite warm with almost summer like temperatures in the mid to upper 80’s. The rain chances along the Treasure Coast will remain about 20% through most of the week so there will be a chance of a passing shower over the next few days.
