The Polar Vortex Returns With A Vengeance

The cold weather just will not let up. The next Polar Vortex is on the way to a city near you. If you live in the Midwest or Northeast, it is going to be a cold week. Looking at the low temperatures, we could see some below freezing temperatures as far south as North Florida.

Similar to the last polar blast, the coldest temperatures of this event will be in the Plains and the Northeast states.

Looking at some forecast temperatures we are seeing highs of only 12 to 18 degrees in Boston with a low near 9 degrees, highs of around 12 in Springfield with a low of 0, New York City will see a high of about 20 and a low of 10 degrees and Washington DC will see a high of 18 and a low of 10 degrees. Chicago, you will be at around 11 degrees on Tuesday with a low of –6.

Central Florida will get down to about 39 degrees. Most of these low temperatures will arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday for most of the above named cities.

In addition to the cold, the Northeast will have to deal with some snow as well. Looking at the Boston forecast, the chance of snow is 50% both Tuesday night and Wednesday.

From Wednesday on, it should get slightly warmer but the cold air in general is there to stay throughout most of the week. It is possible the extreme cold will again close some schools so it is important to keep in touch with your local media outlets in case closings are announced.
