Some cities in the affected area include Springfield, Boston and most of Long Island.
The Winter Storm warning is in effect from 4 AM Thursday through 10 AM Friday. Snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches or more possible.
Heavy snow and gusty winds will result in very dangerous wind chills with blowing and drifting snow. Near blizzard conditions are possible and travel may become impossible.
Winds may gust up to 40 MPH. The powdery nature of the snow will allow for significant blowing of the snow.
If you live in the affected area take precautions that should be normally done before a major weather event. In the event of a power failure be sure to have plenty of blankets and extra food and water.
You should avoid travelling during the height of the storm. If you must travel, be sure to have a survival kit in your car in case you get stranded in drifting snow.
